Hilary Booth Character Profile

Background to begin:

Hilary Winslow Booth claims to be from Lagonia, Maine, which is supposedly just outside Crockett’s Corner, Maine.

She took piano lessons for free from Mrs. Tumley from age 5 through high school, and at age 15, she almost drowned while swimming at the beach.
Her first drama instructor and lifelong mentor was Giles Aldwych, a highly zealous and accomplished actor.
From there she landed major roles on Broadway in “The Rivals” and “Razzle Dazzle”, both of which she later toured with.
On the national tour of “Razzle Dazzle”, she married Jeff Singer in Matamoros, Mexico, only to divorce him two weeks later.
They never revealed this to the public because they felt the public would not take it well.
Hilary had romantic relationships with several men, including Tyrone Gunthrie, Billy Rose, John Barrymore and Adrian Carr.

Her mentioned performances before working at WENN were Tiger Lily in Peter Pan when she was quite young,
"Mama Bear" in Goldilocks - it was the last time she remembered middle billing,
Juliet in a Shakespearean performance in Schenectady, NY, summer stock in Utica, NY – which felt like four years -
and Ophelia in John Barrymore's 'Hamlet'. Also of note is her performance of one of the witches in Macbeth.
But she's also played plenty of non-Shakespearean roles where she had to deliver lines such as,
"Tea anyone?" or "Tea and crumpets, anyone?" or "How did you escape from Devil's Island, Randolf?"
Hilary had been at the station for 3 years when we first met her in 1939. On the air, she plays all the leading ladies, and refuses to read the news.
